À gauche, sur la photo, à Jaisalmer lors de mon voyage en Inde en 2006. Attention, ce n'est pas avec l'organisme. C'est mon premier test de photo sur ce blog ! One! International is a volunteer organization working toward the betterment of life in Mumbai (Bombay), India. It is a non-governmental (non-profit), non-sectarian organization that depends on financial support from individuals as well as businesses.
The main goal of One! is the future. And of course the key to the future is the children and the youth. Basic education for children is a must. However, in order to accomplish this, education must also be extended to the older population by conveying educations' necessity, and also to try and break the parent's dependance on their children for the food and money they get by begging.
In order to conquer education, other problems must be faced simultaneously. Basic needs, such as nutrition and medical attention as well as the problems faced by women: treatment by men and pregnancy.
47% of children between 0-59 months (0-5 years) in India are underweight - this figure is only matched or worse in three countries: Ethipoia, Yemen and Bangladesh.33% of the total population of India use adequate sanitation facilities. UNICEF 2005
